Outsourcing of jobs from the U.S. to other countries is not new but it is gaining steam and presents a real problem for us. I don't know what the answer should be (I doubt it should be a new set of laws) because it is something like an earthquake -- If you live in SoCal you know it's coming so what you can do is be as prepared as possible but you cannot prevent it. As for the outsourcing, I'm not happy about it, especially when it involves large companies which profit from the U.S public yet push jobs overseas. A good start might be a personal boycott against those companies, when reasonable (given that so much crap is outsourced). For example, ZDNet reports that AOL is hiring for its new Bangalore, India office. Because there are many options, if I were an AOL client (as if), I would bail to a local company. Small beans for sure but if the process is to be slowed, it will be slowed by those of us writing checks every month. The rest of the problem? Rocket Scientists please inquire within.
