My Entire Day Is Ruined
Desperate words uttered by a bored 5 year old upon learning that her dear friend was out of town for the day. Abigail has no school today and although we went to the park and McDonalds, getting home with hours left in the day with only Dad and brother to play with isn’t always as thrilling a prospect as it might sound to you and me.
Abby tried to play with Ben and her tea set earlier but that ended up with Abby saying (in a very calm voice, for a change), “Ben, I don’t think this is going to work out”. I’m really just noting this for myself because I got a huge kick out of her choice of phrases and the way she delivered it.
Ben is not yet going for the more complex word stitching but he did give me a laugh when I asked him to grab me a beer. He plucked one out of the chiller, put it in my cup holder and when I thanked him he was already pushing his little yellow truck away, yelling backwards, “No problem Daddy”. You have to know his vocabulary to know how cool and funny it was. Or maybe you just have to take my word for it. Or *maybe* all of this stuff is only cute to me. Anyone want to see the baby pictures in my wallet?
