Oh How I Love My Flip-flop Supplier!
Call them “flip-flops” or “sandals”, they’re all the same to me. But the *brand* is important. I’ve been wearing Reef brand flippers for many years but this last Spring my brother-in-law hooked me up with a specific style of Reefs called “Fannings“. They have a killer little bottle opener built in to the bottom which makes them the ultimate camping shoe and all around traveling mate. But they’re pretty expensive as compared to the lower end model which I’ve typically bought.
I got my foot covers in early May of this year but after just three months a part of them broke. I’m pretty hard on these things because I wear them all the time so I expect to buy two pair per year but I can’t afford twice that number when they’re three times the price of my normal style (apologies for all the math).
I wrote a note to the manufacturer and let them know that I was disappointed and hoped they could help me out. They got back to me in less than a day and sent me an RMA so i could shoot mine back for a replacement set. It took about 4 weeks but today I got my brand new pair, all for the cost of shipping them back my old ones.
I should note that their quick turnaround on my initial complaint was so satisfactory that I went out and bought another of the cheaper style as a temp solution so now I have two pair of Reef sandals and i couldn’t be happier.
Although their posted warranty is a bit ominous it was really nice to get a personal response to my letter of concern and to know that they would do the right thing. I’d say they’d have to steal one of my kids before I’d switch brands to a competitor. Just a little attention and their ability to be flexible has earned them at least a two pair per year sale to me for life. See, I’m not all that hard to please!
