Two new dogs at the McZoo

A beautiful young, female Boxer and a subtle, older male Poodle-ish dog came into our lives today. I saw them trotting down the street while I was on a phone call and would have liked to grab them but could not get away. A few hours later a woman was driving around, asking anyone outside if they knew who owned… a Boxer and Poodle. I knew they had to be the same crew I had spied earlier.

She was going to bring them to the local shelter but I insisted that they should stay with me and that I’d put up posters around the neighborhood indicating the find. Glad to know the woman and her daughter would take the time to grab a couple of misplaced doggies, even when life is moving as fast as it does. So whatever, we have them, at least for the night with hopes of getting them back to their real home tomorrow.

Part of me wishes that we never find the owners because they’re very good natured. They’re the type that you know in 60 seconds whether or not they’ll mix with your kids, your current pooch, your cat and yourself. They do and just fine. But they’re not mine and I can only guess they’re good natured because they come from a good family so I have to push my wishes back towards a hope that we do find the owners. Bah! I like selfish Tom better sometimes.

I’ll let y’all know how it goes. And if you know someone who is missing their pooches, let me know.

[Update:] The owner saw one of our signs and called about her dogs. She has now picked them up and they’re back home where they belong. The Boxer’s name is “Jules” and the Poodle is “Scooter”.
