All of my new appliances broke on Thursday night.
I certainly understand that things go wrong with appliances but I never expected all of them to break at the same time. They’re not completely broken but their core features all seem to be disabled. For example, my washer/dryer will still wash and dry clothes but I have to operate them manually. Prior to Thursday they would silently collect the dirty clothes, sort them, wash, dry, fold and put them away. That’s not too big of a deal compared to my refrigerator’s breakage. Prior to Thursday it would stock itself. It must have done it very late at night because I never saw it leave the house but I swear, every couple of days it would stock itself with chicken and hot dogs and sliced cheese and everything else needed to feed the family. Now all it does is keep things cold.
Some other things that broke include:
- Self vacuuming carpet
- Self cleaning windows
- Self stocking cupboards
- Kitchen floor auto-sweeper and mopping combo
- Self dusting furniture
- Automatic bill paying device with integrated checkbook balancer
- Self cooking oven
- Self cleaning dish set with matching flatware
Basically, everything in the house is broken and requires manual application to get running. The problem is, I don’t know where to go to get replacements — I think Kerri knows where to go but she left town Thursday night and won’t be back until Tuesday. Wait a minute! That’s the same night that everything started going haywire. I wonder if Kerri disabled everything as a trick before she left? She is quite the prankster so I wouldn’t be surprised if she pulled a fast one on me.
I’ll survive while Kerri is gone but I’ll be very grateful when she returns (and I promise to be more helpful!). I’m sure the kids share the same sentiment — They’ve been writing notes, putting them in bottles and tossing them into the ocean every day. Perhaps I should let them out of the tower.
[Update:] I’ve stared at the dishes for over an hour and they still have not cleaned themselves! I won’t get into the 30 minutes I wasted staring at the laundry. For now I’m going to try ignoring them and see what happens. The fridge continues to limp along, providing only cold, and light when the door opens. It may actually be consuming some of the food on its own, a complete reversal of its intended operation.

Well this is what I call bad luck, but then again we are not completely sure it is bad luck, are we? Aether way you need to find a way to “survive” until Kerri turns. I am sure you are not to blame for this, all appliance parts in your home should be revised or more drastically, replaced.
