Observing Memorial Day

I get choked up whenever I think about this “holiday”. Men and women in military service have long made posts like this possible. Sometimes they’ve been sent into harm’s way by ill-advised or bad-natured people but they’ve done their job nonetheless, in many more cases than not.

My hope is that folks will sit back and think about what has been given to us (as immeasurable as it might be) and thank them, as well as their families, putting aside their own pursuit of power for at least one day. Without their lives we could all be in much worse shape today; Without their courage or having endured terrible fear before death, we might not have what we have for ourselves and our children today.

I say, “Thank you!”, to all who gave their lives for us and to the families that have had to live with the punishing horror of such a loss. Myself and my family will be forever grateful.
