What A World…
I feel like the Wicked Witch of the West, just having a bucket of water tossed on me. First, Winter seems to be making her presence known which means no more tee shirt, shorts and flip-flops for work attire. It’s like I’ve been transported to Narnia and the White Witch is working her black magic. Hmmm. Do I have a “witch” fettish today? Nah.
Also, I took the time to vote yesterday and some of the meaures I voted for did not pass. At first I thought to myself, ” How can so many Californians be so stupid?”. But then it dawned on me that I was being one of those people who thinks they’re smarter than everyone else and that’s just not me. I finally realized that the elections must have been rigged and all of us smart people simply got cheated. Phew! I was getting worried that California had been harboring more idiots than smart people and that’s a scary thought.
The vote process seemed strange from the get-go and now part of me wishes I didn’t waste the time reading about initiatives and getting out to vote. Looking back on things, it all makes sense now. My polling place changed from the local golf course to the local Sheriff’s station. The Sheriff’s station! I had immediate reservations of going there on purpose and knew at that point that something was awry. Thankfully I was smart enough to remove the pocket knife from the place it belongs before entering the building but when I got in there I was struck by how much the little polling booths resembled a moderately busy men’s restroom in a hotel or restaurant — With three guys already in various booths I had to grab my sample ballot and make a decision on which open booth I should choose. It seems weird but I’m sure there’s some mental calculation going on when choosing who I’ll stand close to… like, are they going to try and take a peek?
Between this morning’s rainy weather and the loss of various initiatives on the ballot, I’m feeling a little blue. But being the “glass half full” type of person, I’m taking the view that my water bill will be lower (since I turned my sprinklers off) and that those who rigged the elections will be caught, making all of my homework worthwhile.
