Joining The 21st Century In Less Than 12 Hours
Kerri and I were discussing the bill from our cable provider (Adelphia) last night and wondered about getting one of those fancy DVRs, also discussing the need for HBO since we never switch to that channel anymore. I saw that their sales dept. is open until midnight so at nearly 10pm I decided to give them a ring. Within 5 minutes I had cancelled my HBO and ordered a DVR. At one time there was a 2 month waiting list for getting an install but things have apparently changed. Less than 12 hours after my call I had a working DVR in my family room. Woohoo! I’m not a big fan of Adelphia but they certainly came through for me this time.
As a side note, my TV is too old and I need a new one if I want the DVR and my DVD player to work. Basically my TV only has a cable input port on the back and it needs RCA ports (or some such thing). I have one of those FM Modulators but the DVR doesn’t like to be routed through that device *and* the DVD player. So either I get a new TV or the kids get a new DVD player and we do without in the family room. Stay tuned…
