The Birds Are Out
Been up since 2am, catching up on missed work from yesterday while I was taking a class. The birds are chirping like mad, apparently imposing their own little no_fly_zone for other male birds. Nature does have its way of providing a relaxing atmosphere if you allow yourself to tune in (without dropping out).
My next class is on Thursday this week with a wrap-up on Tuesday next week. You may ask yourself, “What class does Tom need to take? He’s so darn smart already”. Well let me clue you in. I’m taking a class which will allow me to certify others in CPR/First Aid/AED.
After having performed CPR on a living (dying?) person in my previous life (working in the medical field) and knowing how easy it is to do if you just have the basic skills, I figured I would put myself in a position to teach others. My neighborhood is ripe with young families, including my own. The more people who have the basic life-saving skills associated with CPR/First Aid the safer my little community becomes.
A friend of mine who is a firefighter and CPR instructor gave a little clinic at my daughter’s 2nd birthday. Parents, grandparents and others attended this free course in hopes of being better prepared while caring for the youngsters that surround us. It was insanely cool of Kirk to take the time to teach everybody and I wanted to do the same for a broader community of people. So that’s it.
If you have a group of people in the Conejo Valley that would like to learn CPR/First Aid, I’ll be gearing up to provide that type of service in the near future. My intention is to do it for free in my spare time for those who simply want to learn. Those who need to be certified would incur a cost because the Red Cross charges me for various materials that must be provided when instructing an official certification course. Stay tuned…
