Alone At Easter

It’s not that I’m totally alone but this may be the first Easter I have not spent with my parents and siblings. Abigail ended up with a fever and cookie toss last night with a low grade fever persisting today. With the two new infants attending our traditional Easter dinner it would not be very nice to bring Abigail along to share her “good fortune”.

We’re scrambling to put something together here so the kids have something memorable. We did an in-house easter egg hunt this morning and will likely go outside to enjoy the incredible Spring weather. I’m sure it will all be nice and enjoyable. It should be easy to put the lack of a big family gathering behind us if we just think of the people who are truly alone today. Kerri worked yesterday (at a local hospital) and the count of people who will spend today alone in their hospital bed is enough to make you feel guilty for ever giving way to self pity.

I hope everyone out there has a terrific Easter Sunday, remembering what it is all about. And we could all do well to stop and think about those who will be alone, suffering or in any way less fortunate than ourselves. Peace!
