Interesting Human Behavior

ABC News is reporting that a cash machine (ATM) in an Iowa casino was spitting out $100 bills instead of $20 bills as expected. By the time it was noticed (nearly 6 hours after the error began) they were short more than $46,000.

It’s funny behavior to me because most folks I know, including myself, would give back money if they received too much change at the store or would give a heads-up to a clerk who accidentally undercharged them for an item. But in a casino, if you’re going to the ATM, you’re obviously not on a winning streak and your judgement may be slightly skewed. I wonder if someone alerted them to the problem or if the machine was simply being reloaded and exposed itself as a sort of accidental Robin Hood?
