We never had helmets or knee pads when we were growing up but in SoCal, if your kid is biking or scootering around, you better have them geared up or you could end up with a visit from Child Services.

The older children in the neighborhood have little scooters and she has wanted one for quite some time. Now she can hang with the big kids.
