Pink Eye Strikes Again
One of the nice benefits of going to daycare is the inevitable contraction of Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye). Big Ben seems to have been this week’s winner so we get to apply drops to his eyes 4 times per day for the next 5 days. I guess I’m glad he’s so young… it was much harder when Abigail was 2 and knew to fight back as the drops came down. So we’ve got the administering of the drops and Ben staying home from daycare all week. This will be interesting. And so darn exciting! I think I’ll start working on my epitaph now.
UPDATE: Coming up on 11pm, it was time for dose number two for the little guy. Imagine being sound asleep and having someone yank open your eyes only to see a huge pointy plastic thing headed right for your ball. He yelped of course, as if I needed to hear that to know he was not feelin’ so fine, and he squirmed quite a bit but I managed to get my two drops in each socket. The hardest part was actually getting his eyes open. Aside from his resistence the top and lower eyelids were literally glued shut with whatever goop is produced with this sort of infection. I used a warm wash cloth to get the outer stuff removed but it was still quite a sight when I exposed the deeper ooze-ings. I realize this may be more graphic than you bargained for but it’s good for my own historical purposes. And now I have an alibi to explain away those bruises on his eyes.:)
