What a weekend
I took some much needed time off last week, starting my weekend on Wednesday night. This was one of the busiest yet relaxing weekends I can remember. It went kinda like this:
Thursday Morning to Cayucos. My neighbor Matt has a house at the beach on the central coast of California and he invited our family as well as another neighbor’s family (Darin and Alison) to join them for the spring time visit. It’s a huge place so there was plenty of room for three 4-member families. We spent lots of time at the beach (where the kids ignored the cold water) during the day and BBQ’d in the evening. We made it out to the tide pools, into Morro Bay to feed the seals and somehow managed to relax in the process. The kids had a great time which always makes our time enjoyable. Thanks Matt!
Saturday Afternoon Surprise Party. My sister (and fellow VPOP team member) Mo just turned 30. Her excellent husband Phil pulled off a killer surprise party. He put some serious thought into the details while sneaking around to get folks together without her knowing. The big ticket was getting our youngest sister Molly out from Boston as part of the surprise. You know you did a good job when the sisters are crying and hugging. It made a lot of other people cry too.
In-laws In Town. While we were up in Cayucos my wife’s parents hung out at our place, taking care of the dog and watching the house. They also attended the surprise party. We only got one day to hang out with them (Sunday) but it was oh so nice. The more I hear about in-law relationships the more I feel lucky that we all get along so well. I could sit and talk with Terry (grandpa) for hours on end. We watched part of the race and talked about general things, continuing the relaxtion of the weekend. We got up at 5:30 this morning to help get them packed and see them off which is always a sad thing. It’s our turn to head out to Nevada to see them next time.
That’s it. But isn’t that enough?
