These days it is difficult to talk politics with folks who are on the opposite side of your view for the simple reason that many people will not consider rational arguments against or produce rational support for their view. Ideology seems to trump reason.

I find Doc’s post, “Pectoral order“, an interesting one. He will vote against the recall of Gov. Davis but still took the time to check into [at least two of] the candidates. Rather than senseless bashing I read thoughtful comments. I’m not voting for Arnold either but he and the other serious looking candidates should at least be investigated so we can make informed decisions. If more voters investigated and informed themselves prior to election day, we would see a lot more action because accountability would actually be considered. Being a native Californian myself, I’m embarrassed by how many folks make decisions based on T.V. ads, radio spots, etc. There are no guts or meat to be found in a 30 second spot and attack ads do not ever include context. Oh well, I’ll do my homework and hope that if things get bad enough more fellow Californians will do the same.
